Cast Iron Smores

One grand benefit of cast iron skillets is the ability to have some of your favorite outdoor pastimes indoors!  A top favorite of mine is the eternal smore, a classic among all desserts. The next time you have this craving don’t worry; it requires no fire, no adventure outdoors to the woods or firepit, only 25 min in the kitchen and a craving soon to be filled.

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grab the wonderful cast iron skillet and heat it in the oven for about 5 min once preheated. As always make sure that you have pre-seasoned the case iron pan prior to cooking it in. Remove from the oven and place on a pot holder as it will be hot.
  • Take about 3-5 of the graham crackers and crumble them up in your hands and cover the bottom of the pan with. Make the layer as thin or thick as you want it.
  • In a small/med mixing bowl that is microwave safe add 1/4 cup of butter and melt it in the microwave. Add 3 cups of cups of chocolate chips in with the butter and mix well. Spread the mixture evenly on top of the crumbled graham crackers.
  • Add on a top layer of marshmallows, thickness is up to you. However, don't make it so thick it goes to the very top of the rim or you will have a mess to clean up.
  • Place back in the oven for about 7-10 min. You want the chocolate to be melted and he marshmallows to be lightly browed on top. Pull out and place back on the pot holder. Grab some more graham crackers, dip into the pan, and scoop out the delicious smore! You can also eat with a spoon or fork right out of the pan.

Notes

Iron Smores pairs great with ice cream. I tend to favor a scoop of Vanilla Bean or Black Cherry Gelato.
